The contemporary natural wine movement as we know it was born in Beaujolais in the early 80's, when a group of four friends and producers began experimenting with pesticide-free farming, low-intervention winemaking, and minimal additions of sulfur. The Lapierre estate (now in the able hands of son and daughter Mathieu and Camille, as Marcel has sadly passed on) continues to produce gorgeous, light-bodied, cherried, peppered, long-lived Cru Beaujolais.
