he "Pied de Samson" takes its name from an ancient legend, where the giant Samson stooped to take a drink from the Rhone river, leaving his footprint not far from the estate. The vineyard site sits at 300m, and though just outside of the Condrieu appellation, is composed of the same granitic soils that make up the best sites. All grapes are hand-harvested and after fermentation aging takes place in large wooden vats. This is all Condrieu-like but without the loftier price tag.
