Cosmic Vinyaters is run by Salvador Battle, a viticulturist who works in two different landscapes of Catalonia, in the Alt Empordà and the Baix Penedès, with a total of 9.5 hectares of vineyards that are cultivated in the most natural way possible, using ecological and biodynamic agriculture. This bottling comes from the former, Catalonia's wily, extreme northeast, where wines can tend toward the more exotic. The Connexio Cosmica is no exception. A blend of 85% Xarel·lo, 10% Chardonnay and 5% Muscat of Alexandria between 300-500m over calcareous clay soils. All harvested by hand, with maceration on the skins for 8 days, pressed and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tank, where it continues aging on fine lees for several months before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and zero S02. Production is limited to 9,400 bottles.
One of the more well-rounded and simply delicious orange wines we've tasted recently. It's got just the right aromatics of stone fruit and flowers, lifted with intriguing herbaceous touches that keep you lingering in the glass before sipping. On the palate it is fresh and textured with well-balanced richness and acidity, and a long and compelling finish.
