Rosé has become wildly popular over the last decade, a phenomenon Victoria James explores in her new book Drink Pink: A Celebration of Rosé. James, the sommelier at Piora in New York, offers a crisp introduction to the drink that chef Jacques Pépin calls "the most unpretentious and democratic of all wines." She explains how the wine is made and recommends a range of producers, from the classic Domaine Tempier in the Provencal town of Bandol to Arnot Roberts and Bedrock in California and Franz Strohmeirer in Austria. James includes recipes for several rosé cocktails as well as dishes classically paired with rosé, including steamed artichokes and aioli, bouillabaisse and roasted lamb. The book is studded with illustrations by Lyle Railsback, James's boyfriend and a gifted artist.
